Yeehaw! Another zombie flash mob!

Monday, August 29th, 2005

In Vancouver this time. Go here to see the flikr photo pool.
Since Chicago Critical Mass managed to get their stupid asses onto Lake Shore Drive last Friday, and the freaked out cops wrecked a car in pursuit, I imagine we’ll be looking for another spontaneous group activity here shortly. Every last Friday of […]

The new imprint

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

Here’s the logo for the new “publishing” imprint that Vern and I are getting ready to launch into action:

I use quotes around publishing because I’m not sure if printing something in your dining room is actually considered publishing yet.
I’ve spent the last 2 weeks dealing with (ordering, setting up, kicking, replacing) a baby-coffin-sized […]

Creepy New Poster

Friday, August 12th, 2005

Here’s the new poster I designed this week for the upcoming play by Michael Martin, creator of the big hit Verbatim Verboten. This is something totally different, obviously!

The devil in me…

Friday, August 12th, 2005

Vern and I spent the last two nights watching Rob Zombie’s two movies, House of 1000 Corpses on DVD, and, last night, The Devil’s Rejects in the theater.
While retaining the three most interesting characters from the first movie, TDR really clarified the vision and stylistic jumble of H1000C to produce a pretty unrelenting hardcore […]

Number 3 with a Guiness

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

I just heard from Tom Reynolds, the witty author of the book I illustrated, “I Hate Myself and Want to Die…” (see Book Illustrations page), who had some great news: the book is the #3 bestselling nonfiction tome in Ireland!
Here’s the proof (shrunk to a bandwidth-friendly size. But trust me, it’s true):

The Handsome Family always […]

Little A-Merrick-A

Monday, August 8th, 2005

I took my intrepid niece Siv and her lovely friend Rajani to an amusement park last week–it was quite the rickety state fair-esque experience, just 20 minutes east of Madison. There was even a choo-choo train and one of those haunted houses that is just a walk through a tiny, totally black corridor puntuated […]

Art Lad

Thursday, August 4th, 2005

I must be getting soft in my old auntie age.
This kid will be all over the web soon enough–I found the reference on boingboing, of course–but I think this painting by 6-year-old Art Lad (on the bog that is transcribed by his dad) really f’ing rocks:

Explains Art Lad:
A lot of people liked this picture a […]

Zombie Mass

Monday, August 1st, 2005

Another reason I wish I lived in San Francisco:
This weekend a bunch of freaks apparently held a “zombie flash mob”: a horde of zombies roamed the streets attacking unsuspecting citizens and apparently handing off “kits” so that their victims could also become zombies. They even attacked an Apple store.
Not […]
