Oh, and…

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I’m losing a lot of weight. A lot. It’s kind of nuts. Just in the past couple of weeks. Dancing. Biking. Yoga. Fruit. Or maybe it’s just reality remaking itself to match the version of me I have in my head…

It’s only make-believe

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I spend a lot of time daydreaming. I won’t say what about–that’s my damn business. But for an adult woman, I get the feeling it’s a lot. I dream up stories. I am in the stories. If I ever wrote them down, it would be very embarrassing. I think […]

The tattoo and marching band

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

It took forever to get pictures of this sucker, probably because now that it’s finished I’m enjoying it so much, getting pictures hasn’t been a big priority. But Jason, the artist, needed pictures so I finally hauled my butt up to Deluxe so he could take some. Here is is:

That was four 3-4 […]

Obama: NAFTA not so bad after all

Friday, June 20th, 2008

Argh.

OK, he just gave me one reason to vote for him…

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Shhhh. I am not an Obama fan. I know, I know. That’s like saying I like to kill and cook puppies.
I wasn’t a Hillary fan either, mind you. She scares me, mainly because I don’t want to see a return to her husband’s NAFTA bs…and she’s just such a classic “centrist” […]

I feel good.

The honey badger, she smiles…
I miss playing roller derby. But I don’t miss how craptacular it made me feel most of the time. 2-hour high-endurance workouts are perhaps a bit much for a 225-lb, 39-year-old body to take, especially one that is under mental stress as well (last year was a BITCH!). […]

More bikey news

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Two nice stories today:
One in the Trib, stating for the umpteenth time that high gas prices are driving more people to the pedal in their daily commute. Apparently the City is going to install electronic trackers to accurately assess bike traffic. Hey guys: bike traffic is up. And we need more bike […]

7 Song Challenge

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Rules:
“List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what […]

Is the velorution upon us?

Friday, June 6th, 2008

In a CNN poll, 18% of respondents said their next vehicle will be a bicycle.
Can this be true?
If so, I think I’m getting in on this bike repair thing just in time. Maybe this should be my next career move rather than tattooing. Or I could open a combo shop.
More soon!

Image brazenly stolen […]

40.

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

I was going to title this post something catchier: “Feelin’ Forty,” perhaps? or “Forty and Fabulous?” “Funky Forties?” “Fuck Forty?” I dunno. I think the number itself speaks volumes, ambivalence-wise.
I turned 40 in April. I hear 40 is the new 30. It’s no longer assumed that at 40, you’re raising […]
